Former KTN news anchor Betty Kyallo has paid a glowing tribute to legendary news anchor Catherine Kasavuli.

In a statement via Twitter on Friday, December 30, Kyallo disclosed that she used to watch Kasavuli when she was young and would never miss the 9 PM bulletin.

"Words really fail me. I'm sad and it pains to actually write this about this Phenomenal woman who inspired me to pursue a career in journalism. I used to watch her and try to sound like her. Since I was so young I never used to miss watching 9pm News when she was anchoring.

"I loved her poise, articulation, grace and professionalism. I never got to work with her but I remember when I interviewed her on my show on KTN Friday Briefing," Kyallo said.

She added," I was so nervous to meet her because I was like I needed to even try match her as we presented the news together that evening. She was so sweet, very giggly and charming. She was Joyous and she kept saying how proud she was of me and my rise from being an intern.

"Today, I choose to celebrate you. Thank you for inspiring many young girls to pursue their dreams fiercely. You were great and still will be even with your passing. Go well. You fought till the end."

Kasavuli died aged 60 at Kenyatta National Hospital on Thursday night. She had been battling cervical cancer.
