“They knew she was sick. Spare us the hypocrisy and help her family offset the Sh4 million bill, if you loved her so much.”

Media personality Ciku Muiruri has accused politicians mourning the death of veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli of being hypocrites.

Muiruri in a tweet said it was ironic for the leaders to purport to mourn the fallen veteran yet they ignored fundraising calls to support her medication.

“All these politicians and their wives falling over themselves to pay tributes to Catherine Kasavuli have been ignoring her fundraising efforts for months,” Muiruri said.

“They knew she was sick. Spare us the hypocrisy and help her family offset the Sh4 million bill, if you loved her so much.”

Her comments come even as the family is seeking Kenyans' help to offset the Sh4 million hospital bill so as to facilitate her burial arrangements.

Kasavuli passed away on December 29, 2022 night aged 60 at the KNH after battling cancer. She had been admitted to the facility since October 26.

In November, colleagues and friends in the media industry mobilised people to donate blood for urgent transfusion after she was admitted at KNH.

Kasavuli's employer KBC appealed for blood donation as she is admitted to Kenyatta hospital's Private wing.

The veteran new anchor inspired a generation of journalists who looked up to her as they pursued their media carreer.
