Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen had been elected as Elgeyo Marakwet senator when he resigned to join the cabinet.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shared a message of goodwill to UDA candidates set for the ballot on January 5 in Elgeyo Marakwet county, Kandara and Garissa Township constituencies and Sheilah Ward in Lamu county.

In the by-elections, Kisang William Kipkemoi is the UDA candidate for Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial seat, Njuguna Chege( Kandara Constituency), Barrow Dekow Mohamed (Garissa Township ), and Abduljabar Saamiya Mohamed (Shella Ward). 

"To our candidates, you have put your best foot forward in the campaigns. We are confident that you will be elected and join us in delivering on the Kenya Kwanza Plan. I appeal to the electorate in these areas to come out in large numbers and vote for the UDA candidates," he said.

The UDA party will seek to retain the seats to maintain a grip on its strength in Parliament.
