Former Commissioner General of Prisons Isaya Mosiori Osugo is dead, his family has confirmed.
Osugo is reported to have died at the Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted for roughly a week.
He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for days over undisclosed illnesses.
Osugo exited the Prisons service in 2019. He was to retire in 2016 but then President Uhuru Kenyatta extended his tenure for two more years.
The late is credited for several sweeping reforms in the Prisons service that was marred with controversies and unrest among the officers.
Before his appointment as the commissioner general of police Osugo worked at the National Police Service as the Nairobi Provincial Criminal Investigation Officer.
Former Late President Mwai Kibaki named him prisons boss in 2008.
Previously, he served as the Nairobi Central Divisional CID chief before he was promoted and transferred to Provincial CID chief in the Eastern province.
