President William Ruto on Tuesday, January 10 met with Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa and his Vodacom counterpart Shameel Joosub at State House Nairobi.

In a statement on his Twitter account after the meeting, President Ruto recognized the role Safaricom and other telecommunication companies have played in the success of the Hustler Fund.

“Met Chief Executive Officers Peter Ndegwa (Safaricom), Shameel Joosub (Vodacom) and their management team at State House, Nairobi; acknowledged the role played by Safaricom and other telcos in the successful rollout of the Hustler Fund,” the President stated.

He also stated that the digitization of government services would make the process of information delivery much quicker and more efficient.

“The digitization of government services is a priority for this administration with special focus on processes, delivery, and information sharing,” Ruto stated.

“This will make us more efficient, save resources and hasten the implementation of the Plan, which will ultimately improve the quality of life of the people,” he added.

The Head of State’s meeting with Ndegwa and Joosub comes days after he directed all Cabinet and Principal Secretaries to ensure that all government services have been digitized.

“Every Principal Secretary and Cabinet Secretary must make it their business to work with the Ministry of ICT so that government services in your departments in the areas of your jurisdiction are digitized in the next six months so that the people of Kenya can access government without too much bureaucracy,” President Ruto said Friday, January 6.
