National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has recounted August 15, 2022, chaos at the Bomas of Kenya.

While speaking on Tuesday, January 17 at State House, Wetangula revealed he found outgoing IEBC commissioner Abdi Guliye crying after he was injured during the Bomas commotion.

“I walked into Chebukati’s office after the commotion and I found professor Guliye crying with both his legs bleeding profusely after being physically assaulted on the podium,” Wetangula recounted.

The former Bungoma senator asked Attorney General Justine Muturi to investigate the matter and have the culprits charged.

“What is surprising Attorney General is that all those goons who caused mayhem, caught on CCTV none has been brought to justice. It’s not the best way of fighting impunity, because we all saw them. We saw who boxed Chebukati, we saw who knocked down Guliye, and we saw who tried to snatch the documents from Awiye. That I leave to you,” Wetangula added.

His remarks come a day after Chebukati wrote to President Ruto and requested him to form a commission of inquiry to investigate State interference in last year’s general election.

“The commission wrote the President of the Republic of Kenya requesting for a public inquiry in respect of the process leading to the declaration of the final results at the Bomas of Kenya,” Chebukati said on Monday, January 16.
