The deputy president's trip to Uasin Gishu comes a day after President William Ruto left for Uganda.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in Uasin Gishu county for a thanksgiving service.

The service is being held at Koilel Pri. School in Uasin Gishu.

In the deputy president's company is, among others, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa, Kiharu's Ndindi Nyoro, Elgeyo Marakwet and CS nominee Kipchumba Murkomen and President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet.

This would be Rigathi's first tour to North Rift since he assumed office alongside Ruto.

The tour comes a week after the president toured Nyanza region for the first time as president.

Ruto on Sunday, October 2, arrived at AIC Church in Homa Bay town, Homa Bay County for a church service.

This was the Head of State's maiden visit to the region regarded as ODM leader Raila Odinga's backyard since taking over power.

President Ruto arrived at the church some minutes past 10:00 a.m. as he joined the congregants for a singing session.

A relaxed Ruto was seen enjoying the service as he sang along in the singing session while he gently clapped his hands.

The Head of State was, however, neither accompanied by the First Lady Rachel Ruto nor his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

He was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary designate Eliud Owalo, former Migori governor Okoth Obado, Kharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, PS Julius Jwan, former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa among others.
