Sabina Chege said Uhuru Kenyatta had once avoided maandamano and thus they are following in his footsteps.

Sabina Chege has continued to prove unapologetic over her move to join forces with the Kenya Kwanza in the company of other Jubilee Party members.

The lawmaker defended their move to partner with President William Ruto's faction at the expense of advancing the opposition politics.

According to Sabina, their move was inspired by former president Uhuru Kenyatta who she said decided to partner with ODM leader Raila Odinga to bring tranquility to the country.

It is in the same spirit she says they decided to work with the current government for the betterment of Kenyans' wellbeing.

"This country is bigger than any individual. I would like to say that we are following in the footsteps of our party leader Uhuru Kenyatta. After the elections in 2017, in 2018 he is the first person who went to look for Raila Odinga and look for a handshake.

Because he told us that this nation is bigger than any one of us. And he was avoiding what we are seeing now of people in the streets and maandamano. So we are following in his footsteps," she said.

Sabina took on Kioni whom she warned against treating the party as his own kiosk.

Nominated MP Sabina Chege with President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

"Let Kioni know Jubilee party is not his own kiosk. He has never called us for any PG. He has never given us direction, so when he wakes up from his bed he cannot expect that we will follow him. Even when he went to represent us at the Azimio PG, he never invited us nor tell us the agenda," added Sabina.

A couple of weeks back, Sabina rooted for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the sole Mt Kenya kingpin even as she declared allegiance and support for his leadership.

"For now we only have one leader as Mount Kenya people and that's Rigathi Gachagua and we have to support him fully," she said.

She went on to say she has decided to respect the wishes of the people which they made by casting their votes on the ballot.

Chege said it is for that reason that she made a visit to State House to discuss a working relationship for the benefit of the Mt Kenya people.

"When we support Gachagua from the ground then he will be much respected even up there. You all know I was an Azimio diehard but just as I respect leadership, I also respect the decisions you made through your votes and that's why you saw me in State House the other day," she said.

While making the remarks, Chege poured cold water on planned Azimio rallies saying he won't take part in such.

"I want to say today that you won't see me protesting, sijafikisha ujinga hapo," she said

Sabina was one of the few Mt Kenya leaders who campaigned heavily for ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9, 2022 polls.

She however did not vie for any seat and was nominated to parliament after serving as Murang’a woman Rep for two consecutive terms.
