A senior police officer has lost his life after he was stabbed to death during a police raid in Laikipia county. 

Laikipia Police boss John Nyoike confirmed the incident and said Prosper Wandera, who is a deputy OCS at Rumuruti police station. had visited the chang'aa den when the tragedy occured. 

Wandera is said to have been stabbed by a chang'aa brewer in the Sossian location within the Maundu Ni Meri shopping centre around 8 Pm. He died on the spot. 

Wandera was not armed during the raid.

He said a confrontation that turned physical ensued before the chang'aa dealer picked a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest killing him on the spot.

The suspect fled immediately after stabbing the deceased to death using a motorcycle, leaving the 20 litres of chang'aa at the scene.

Officers from Rumuruti station rushed to the scene during which they found their colleague fatally wounded.

He was stabbed with a sharp object on the left side of the chest.
