The Kisii rally was previously scheduled to take place on Monday, February 13 but was postponed in last-minute changes.

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Friday, February 17 took his anti-government rallies to Kisii County. 

The former Prime Minister was accompanied by top Azimio politicians including Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K boss Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, Siaya Governor James Orengo, National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Other politicians who attended the rally include; Ledama Olekina (Narok), Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), Godfrey Osotsi (Vihiga) MPs; Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba), Irene Mayaka(nominated), Peter Salasya (Mumias East), Charles Ong’ondo (Kasipul Kabondo), Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga), Jared Okelo(Nyando), Peter Masara (Suna West) and James Nyikal (Seme).

The Kisii rally was Raila Odinga’s sixth anti-government protest rally after Jacaranda, Kamukunji, Kibra, Machakos and Busia meetings.

The rally was previously scheduled to take place on Monday, February 13 but was postponed in last-minute changes.

Raila Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, however, said the decision to postpone the Kisii rally was made in Machakos on Friday, February 10.

“Azimio leaders asked for time between Busia baraza which they were attending today and Kisii baraza which they are still organising,” he stated.

A section of Kisii leaders had also asked the former Prime Minister to keep off Gusii in his countrywide protest rallies.
