Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed’s criticism on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received a backlash from a section of Kenyans.

DP Gachagua on Sunday, February 20 in Kericho stated that those who voted for the Kenya Kwanza government would be the first to enjoy benefits.

"This Government is like a company guaranteed by shares. There are those with many shares and those with few shares. Therefore those who voted for us and supported us must enjoy the benefits first," Gachagua said.

His remarks were chastised by Junet who questioned how Kenyan could pay tax to two individuals.

“If The Government of the Republic of Kenya has become a company with shareholders then How will all Kenyans pay taxes to a company belonging to two individuals?” Junet questioned.

His comment received a backlash from a section of Kenyans who reminded him of his speech in 2022 where he stated that the Government would have been 100 percent Nyanza if Raila Odinga was to win.

“Si Hon Junet Mohamed told us 100% of Raila's government (Allah will not allow it) belongs to Luo Nyanza...and other Kenyans will be visitors?” Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi posed.

Junet in a rejoinder stated that his 2022 remarks were just for campaigns and looking for votes.

“You talk this way when you are campaigning and looking for votes but when you get it, the game changes and you become the leader of all,” he explained.
