It all began when Ahmednasir shared a notice of shortlisted candidates and said "Prof Kivutha Kibwana ticks all the boxes".

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina and Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi have clashed on social media over the suitability of Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana for the post of EACC chairperson.

It all began when Ahmednasir shared a notice of shortlisted candidates and said "Prof Kivutha Kibwana ticks all the boxes".

In a rejoinder to the Lawyer's comment, Ledama disagreed with Ahmednasir saying the auditors' report speaks otherwise about his qualifications.

He suggested that the former governor was heavily involved in graft hence he does not fit the bill.

Have you had a chance to look at his auditor general reports? And closely monitor and read in between the auditors' lines? No, he does not … transferring high-level disguised corruption," Ledama stated.

But Ahmednasir again responded and maintained that Kibwana is the most suitable candidate.

"Prof's record is 100% clean...he has a record that goes back forty years," he fired back.

The comments prompted Ledama to invite the lawyer for a sit down so that he can unpack the character of Kibwana.

"You know I do my research very well my friend! Let’s have coffee and you might just swallow your words! He is the father of nepotism! He hired his brother when he was Governor as the CO health …and much more," he said.

Kivutha Kibwana and CITAM church Bishop David Oginde are among the 14-member list of shortlisted Kenyans for the position of Ethic and Anti-Corruption commission chairperson.

The successful candidate will replace Bishop Eliud Wabukala.

Wabukala left the commission after the expiry of his term on January 17, 2023.

The Public Service Commission asked qualified Kenyans to apply for the position on January 20, 2023. The application window shut on February 2, 2023.

A total of 89 applications were received for the EACC Chair post. Kibwana will be interviewed for the role on Monday, February 27 alongside six other Kenyans.

They include Thomas Letangule, Amani Yuda Komora, Kaberia Isaac Kubai, Benjamin Adam Mure Mweri, Abdihafid Abdullahi Yarow and Eliud Wanjao Ngige.

On Tuesday, February 28, Bishop Oginde will face the interviewing panel alongside Norah Chepkemoi Mutai, Kenneth Sakwa Buliba, Junta Wawira Mwangi Susan Nekesa Ngera, Josiah B Onyancha, and lawyer Charles Kanjama.
