The DCI officers are investigating an offense of publication of false information following an alleged raid in Matiang’is Karen Home.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s lawyer Danstan Omari to appear at DCI headquarters on Wednesday, February 22.

The DCI officers are investigating an offense of publication of false information following an alleged raid in Matiang’is Karen Home.

The Detectives believe that Danstan Omari is connected to the offense and would assist in the investigations.

Omari is to appear before police senior superintendent Michael Sang at 9:30 am without fail.
"With the powers conferred upon me under section 52 (1) of the National Police Service Act No 11A of 2011, hereby compel you to appear before me at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation situated along Kiambu Road At Mazingira House on February 22, 2023, at 9.30 am without fail," the DCI letter read in part.

The DCI also warned Omari against skipping the summon noting that they would be consequences.

"Failure to comply with the requisition constitutes an offence liable to prosecution," the DCI added.
Omari was among the people who were present at Matiangi’s home in the night of the alleged police raid.

“My client is holed up as if he is a fugitive in his country. Civility must be retained, we can’t have a rogue government that comes at night to arrest the former CS. If they want the former CS, we will provide him. What they want to do is plant guns in there and frame him with trumped-up charges,” he told the media.
