Mudavadi was assigned the role in a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, February 28.

President William Ruto has handed the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary new key major role in government.

The move followed a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, February 28 during which a wide range of issues were also agreed upon.

In his new role, Mudavadi will be in charge of ensuring productivity is achieved in ministries.

A State House dispatch on the cabinet meeting indicated that Mudavadi's new role was influenced by the performance appraisal carried out in the financial year 2021/2022 whose outcome was positive.

"To entrench productivity of the Public Service, Cabinet was apprised of the outcome of the FY 2021/22 PerformanceContracting Cycle of all Ministries, State Departments, and state agencies. Whereas the results are a vivid account of the priorities set and successes achieved during the previous Administration, the results also affirm the enduring nature of the Government of Kenya," the Cabinet dispatch read in part.

Cabinet Meeting held on Tuesday February 28.

"In that regard, and as part of deepening a performance-based culture within the Government, the performance management function has been elevated and is now vested in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary. This is expected to entrench productivity as the Administration’s Mantra while also enhancing accountability."

This now means Mudavadi will work with ministries in ensuring that t productivity is achieved for the betterment of the country.
