Former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's Lawyer Danstan Omari has broken his silence following a series of accusations surrounding his client's exit from the country. 

In a statement on Wednesday that sought to clarify what he termed as misinformation on the exit of Matiasng'i, Omari denied that his client sneaked out of the country.

The Lawyer said Matiang'i who, owing to his immediate former role in the security sector, “informally notified” senior security sector and diplomatic officials of his travel" before exiting the nation.

According to Omari, Matiang'i flew to the United Kingdom to attend to family matters.

He said he will be there for a period of two weeks after which he will come back to the country.

“There is nothing sinister about his travel. He is there to attend to an urgent private family matter and shall return to resume his ordinary routine as a private citizen,” the lawyer explained.

Omari termed claims that the former CS fled the country as  “unfair and unfortunate" adding that he did not know of any probe while leaving the country.

On the EACC and DCI probes, he said they have no problem with them as long as they are conducted “with due regard to the rights of every citizen.”

He held that “the aspersions created in the reports are clearly stage-managed wars and evidently driven by inexplicable vendetta and malice.”
