Abdikadir was declared the winner by the IEBC  after bagging 5,939 votes beating three other opponents.

Lagdera MP Abdikadir Hussein has suffered a blow after the High Court in Nairobi nullified his election victory.

Hussein was elected on an ODM ticket.

Nairobi Leo has learnt that the MP has already obtained a stay order on the ruling. Lagdera will be moving to the court of appeal to challenge the High Court decision.

Abdikadir was declared the winner by the IEBC  after bagging 5,939 votes beating three other opponents.

They include Abdiqani Zeitun who got 4,863 votes and the then-incumbent Mohamed Hire of Kanu who was third with 3,277 votes.

Abdikadir was the only MP elected on the ODM party ticket in Garissa county.

Coming from a minority side as far as clan politics are concerned, Abdikadir dedicated his victory to his constituents.

"Clans play a role in the politics of the region but constituents elected me despite coming from a small sub-clan. This is a big statement in itself. I don't have enough words to thank them," he said after being announced the winner.
