Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna now wants Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to be summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over the remarks he made on Wednesday at State House.

Addressing the media at Parliament buildings on Thursday, March 16, Sifuna stated that the remarks should be taken seriously, as they would return the country to the dark days of political assassinations.

“We want Mr. Gachagua to be taken to the DCI to record a statement because we cannot be taken back to the era of JM Karikuki, Robert Ouko, and the others just because they are unable to deal with political questions that have been laid on the table by the Azimio coalition,” said Sifuna.

The ODM party secretary general added that if anything happens to the former Prime Minister during the Monday protests, President Ruto and his deputy would be responsible.

“We want to say that should Raila Amolo Odinga so much as catch a cold on Monday the person to be held responsible is non-other than Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto,” he added.

Gachagua on Wednesday stated that its time to deal with the opposition leader with finality after disturbing the country for many years.

“Huyu mzee amesumbua Kenya for the last sixty years wakiwa na baba yake. Wakati ya kumalizana na huyu mtu ni wakati huu na ataenda akiendanga,” said Gachagua.
