One person was been allegedly shot and injured on Monday, March 20 by the police during Azimio anti-government protests in Nairobi.

The incident occurred near Toi Market, Ngong Road as police officers tried to bar protestors from entering Nairobi CBD.

According to eyewitnesses, the injured middle-aged man is a mechanic and was not taking part in the Azimio anti-government protests.

The injured was been rushed to Iran Medical Hospital along Ngong Road opposite shell Adams arcade.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

The officers earlier arrested National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi at KICC.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed was denied access to KICC as the rest of his colleagues were teargassed.

Nairobi police commander boss Adamson Bungei on Sunday declared Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Monday protest illegal. Bungei said the protest will not be allowed as it does not meet the threshold.
