"There have been allegations that I met President Ruto," Raila. 

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga now says he never met President William Ruto to strike a deal.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, April 4, Odinga mentioned that members from Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza were the ones who met and negotiated. 

"There have been allegations that I met President Ruto, nothing could be further from the truth. There has been no meeting between me and President Ruto," Raila Odinga.

He added," We will have our members of parliament negotiating with their members of parliament, but we will also have a team to which that team negotiating is going to be reporting to." 

At the same time, Odinga said that State must take up the costs of the protesters who were injured by police during the Azimio protests.

"The state must immediately take up the costs or waive all medical bills of victims of police brutality, including journalists, and the last expense cost of those who lost their lives. We have seen too much brutality since IG Japhet Koome took charge," he stated.  

The former Prime Minister added that they were not interested in a handshake as earlier alleged by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders. 


Odinga called off the Azimio protests after President Ruto requested that they adopt a bipartisan approach in parliament to address the issues they deemed contentious. 

The former Premier said they would gove the dialogue one week to see if progress would be made failure to which they would return to the streets.
