Ngilu opened up on a myriad of issues including the ongoing Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance demos.

After months of going under after the 2022 General Elections, Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu on Wednesday resurfaced and addressed a number of political issues.

While attending the burial of real estate tycoon Pius Musembi Kivindu in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, Ngilu opened up on a myriad of issues including the ongoing Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance demos.

While explaining why she has been missing in action, Ngilu said she had taken part in the demos for decades and her missing in action in Azimio protests should not be misconstrued as changing political sides.

“Some leaders are saying that they cannot see me. It is true you cannot see me. Those who are asking about my whereabouts started demonstrating just the other day while I have inhaled teargas since 1992," she said.

She also expressed support for the bi-partisan approach but called for transparency so that Kenyans can know what is happening.

She however revealed that she is in support of the ongoing demonstrations even as she accused the current Kenya Kwanza administration of failing Kenyans.

"I see what you are doing Kalonzo (he was present) and I want to encourage you to soldier on since that is the right direction,” Ngilu stated.

"As Azimio, we had a clear roadmap on what we were going to do should we win the Presidency. Others said as soon as they put down the Bible, maize flour price would reduce to Sh70,” she said in an apparent swipe at President Ruto.

Ngilu did not defend her governor's seat since she hoped she will join Raila's government once he wins the presidency.
