Lawyer Miguna Miguna has weighed in on National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi’s revelation that Members of Parliament are yet to receive their March salaries.

Miguna in a tweet on Friday, April 6 stated that the lawmakers should be made to wait for a little longer since they have not worked for the people who elected them.

“This is actually very good news, in a different way. The MPs should wait a little bit. Many of them haven’t done anything for the public interest. Priority must be the ordinary mwananchi,” said Miguna.

Wandayi in a statement earlier asked the Parliamentary leadership to probe the country’s financial crisis that has seen most civil servants not yet receiving their March salaries.

“This state of affairs calls for bold leadership. We are calling on parliament to take leadership and conduct inquiry on the financial and economic crisis building up in the country before we collapse like other African countries that have gone that route,” he stated.

The Ugunja MP further stated that the National Treasury, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) should be probed with a view of establishing what has gone wrong.

“We need to take a close look at the operations of individuals and systems at the National Treasury, the Central Bank of Kenya and the Kenya Revenue Authority and compel testimony and the production of documents with a view to establishing what has gone wrong,” he added.
