"I had to go and even value my 231 camels somewhere in Kitui County," Aden Duale.

Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale has said that he is worth Sh851 million.

Appearing before the Parliament vetting committee on Monday, October 17, Duale said that his net worth comprised all the assets he owned, including goats, sheep and camels.

"I am worth Sh851 million including the assets that I own that include goats, sheep and camels. I had to go and even value my 231 camels somewhere in Kitui County," Duale stated.

The Garissa town MP said that his current source of income in terms of rentals and other assets was Sh10 million annually.

Duale said that it was a privilege for him to be nominated as Defence CS, and he thanked President William Ruto for showing confidence in his leadership.

During his grilling, he said that the role of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) was to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kenya.

"The core mandate of KDF is to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya. KDF will at all times protect our nation from any external aggression," he said.

Reacting to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba's recent tweets, Duale said that KDF had no role to react to them.

"Our country does not react to tweets but to official government positions, KDF had no role to respond to that. We should not bother. His tweets should be treated with the contempt they deserve," Duale said.
