The 19-year-old had gone missing for days before he was found at KNH

Jamleck Mwanza who sustained head injuries during Azimio anti-government demonstration has passed away while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

The 19-year-old died as a result of a brain haemorrhage due to the injuries he sustained on Thursday, March 30 in Embakasi.

According to Mwanza’s parents, the late had gone missing for days before he was found at KNH on Saturday, April 1.

His mother asked President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga to negotiate and avoid protests that will result in people getting hurt.

"I am saddened because he was my first born and I was working hard so that he can go to school. I wish politicians would sit down and talk instead of going to the streets because many people get hurt and some are children,” she said.

Mwanza’s father on the other hand asked the government to compensate all victims who were injured during the demos.

“I ask the government to compensate all the victims who were injured or lost their lives during anti-government protests,” he stated.

This comes a week after Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga called off demonstrations to allow the opposition to engage with the government through a parliamentary bi-partisan process.

At least three people including a police officer lost their lives during the Azimio protests with property of unknown value being destroyed.
