Ministry of Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Karanja Kibicho has rubbished claims that he’s interested in unseating Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru during the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Kibicho noted that his main interest at the moment is to serve the Kenyan people as PS in the Interior docket.

He further noted that with 19 months remaining before Kenyans take to the polls, it is almost impossible for him to join the race now.

“To run for governor you need to be over 18, I’m over 50, You need to have a degree, I have… So I qualify… My mind at the moment the answer is a straight No… How would I start running for a set which is 19 months away and I have not even declared interest.

“For now my interest is to serve this country as a PS of Interior to the extent that the President will find fit for me to serve. My interest is not competitive politics at the moment,” he said.

Over the past months, there have been reports of bad blood between Kibicho and Waiguru with the latter accusing the former of interfering with Kirinyaga County issues.
