The meeting comes days after Mwangi Wa Iria stated that bipartisan talks should not be limited to a few leaders and should involve other political parties, clergy, and civil societies.

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday, April 12 held a meeting with Usawa party leader Mwangi Wa Iria at his Karen home. 

In an update via Twitter, the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) stated that the two leaders discussed issues of national importance among them the parliamentary bi-partisan talks.

“Usawa Party Leader Mwangi Wa Iria today had breakfast with PL Raila Odinga at the latter’s Karen residence to discuss issues of national importance among them national dialogue and proposed parliamentary bipartisan discussions,” ODM stated. 

This comes days after the former Muranga governor stated that bipartisan talks should not be limited to a few leaders and should involve other political parties, clergy and civil societies.

“This process must be inclusive. We can’t have three people deciding the direction our nation is going to take. If you don’t invite me for the first meeting, I’ll find my way there," the former county boss stated.

Wa Iria also asked President Ruto and Raila to urge their allies to from making aggravating statements that might disrupt the negotiations.

“We want to see Ruto and Raila work together. This can’t happen if there are people saying Ruto is an illegitimate President or dismissing Raila or the former head of state Uhuru Kenyatta.

“It is shocking that people were celebrating while our country was going to the dogs. Hats off to Ruto and Raila for initiating this process. What they have done is historic,” he added.
