Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has listed three greatest threats that can affect Kenya’s future.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has listed terrorism, banditry and abuse of illicit alcohol and drugs as the greatest threats to Kenya’s future.

In a statement on Friday, April 14, Kindiki stated that increased abuse of illicit alcohol is likely to impair Kenya’s future is not dealt with.

“We have identified what we consider the greatest threats to our country’s future. After terrorism and banditry, is trade, use and abuse of illicit alcohol as well as psychotropic substances and drugs. This is a problem that is likely to impair Kenya’s future in a big way if it not dealt with,” said Kindiki.

The Interior CS committed to dealing with the use of illicit alcohol the same way as terrorism and banditry are being treated.

“Having profiled the problem of illicit alcohol and drug abuse among the top three national security threats, we will deal with it with the same vigor, focus, commitment and finality as we have invested in dealing with terrorism and banditry,” he added.

Kindiki further stated that security officials would camp in areas where the abuse of illicit alcohol is rampant.

“We will camp in areas affected by illicit alcohol and drug abuse, including the Mt Kenya region where we are today and wage a similar, if not more vicious war, against the terror of illicit alcohol, drugs and psychotropic substances,” Kindiki stated.
