A church cleric in Kilifi county is currently a guest of the state following police action after reports emerged that a host of his faithful had died under mysterious circumstances.

Paula Mackenzie Nthenge was arrested on Friday, April 14, to help the detectives in their investigations into the mysterious deaths.

Mackenzie is the presiding pastor of Good News International Church situated in Chakahola area, Malindi.

The pastor is accused of forcing his church's faithful through fasting so that they can go to heaven.

Four people have already be confirmed dead due to starvation.

Fifteen others were rescued by police on Thursday, April 13.

The victims are confined in bushes and are not allowed to take food.

Pastor Paul Mackenzie will be arraigned on Monday, April 17.

Mackenzie is slated for arraignment on Monday, April 17.

He is accused of aiding the victims to commit suicide.

The victims will also face charges of attempting to commit suicide.
