According to sources, the bus presumably lost its brakes before veering off the Wundanyi-Mwatate road on Saturday.

The bus rolled down a slope along the highway.

Eleven people died on the spot as others sustained serious injuries.

The survivors of the crash were admitted to the nearby health facilities in Mwatate and Voi townships.

The fatalities were booked into a Moi hospital morgue.

The accident was confirmed by the police who are yet to establish the cause.
