Mwangi Wa Iria warned the police against disrupting the meeting saying that Azimio will face them head-on.

Usawa Kwa Wote party leader Mwangi Wa Iria has announced that the Azimio la Umoja coalition will go on with the planned Murang’a town hall meeting despite it being canceled.

Speaking on Wednesday, April 19, Wa Iria stated that the opposition was not seeking for permission from the police to hold the meeting.

The former Murang’a governor noted that he decided to notify the police for the sake of courtesy.

“Muranga police commander has today said that he has rejected the meeting because his police officers are occupied tomorrow. We were not seeking permission from the police, according to the constitution we are not supposed to seek permission from the police. We informed them for the sake of courtesy. I have already discussed with baba and the meeting is on, all Azimio leaders have confirmed they will attend,” said Wa Iria.

At the same time, he warned the police against disrupting the meeting saying that they will face them head-on.

“I want to warn them that if they interfere with the meeting tomorrow, we shall face them head on, they should expect the worse to happen,” he added.

Murang’a County Police Commander David Mathiu earlier canceled the meeting arguing that Azimio should have issued a notice four days earlier for proper planning.
