Pastor Mackenzie is in custody pending a court appearance.

The Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome is set to visit Shakahola village which hosts controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie's 800-acre farm in Kilifi County.

The IG said the visit will seek to boost the ongoing operation that aims at establishing the number of people who were buried at the firm after alleged forced starvation.

DCI detectives are at the firm where the exhumation of bodies buried illegally is ongoing.

Nairobi Leo has learnt that the IG will visit the site and later address the press on the matter.

The number of bodies exhumed has hit 47 with detectives discovering 26 bodies on Sunday alone.

Police said they have identified about 58 graves at the site and will work to exhume them.

Pastor Mackenzie is in custody pending a court appearance.

Nthenge was arrested on 15 April after discovering the bodies of four people suspected of having starved themselves to death.

This followed a tip-off from a follower at the church.

One of the graves contained the bodies of five members of the same family - three children and their parents.

Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kithure Kindiki on Sunday said he will also visit the site.

The CS said he has directed the addition of more detectives to expedite the process of exhuming the bodies.

"While the Multi-agency security team on site is doing their best to unearth the truth and prevent further loss of lives, I have directed the Regional Commissioner for Coast Region together with the Regional Security Team to reinforce the team in Malindi ahead of my visit on Tuesday," The CS said in a statement.

"Enough security officers have been deployed and the entire 800-acre forest is sealed off and declared a scene of the crime."
