Police officers in Kilifi County have arrested a man suspected to be controversial pastor Paul Mackenzi’s Shakahola cult co-mastermind.

The suspected who has been identified as Pastor Zablon Wa Yesu was found on Mackenzie’s expansive piece of land while reading a bible.

Pastor Zablon was however not fasting. He told the police officers that he was waiting until June so that he would start fasting with other men from the Good News International Church.

This comes after the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome announced that fourteen people are in custody over the cult.

IG Koome also revealed that the number of confirmed deaths had risen to fifty-eight after eleven more bodies were exhumed.

“By yesterday, 47 people had been confirmed dead, however, today an additional 11 have been found therefore making the total number of confirmed deaths 58. This is out of bodies exhumed and those who died on the way to the hospital,” said Koome.

He also stated that a team of experts from the National Police Service including forensic investigators, homicide detectives, General Duty Officers, and Government Pathologists are on the ground conducting an investigation and rescue efforts.
