Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale now wants prophet David Owuor of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry to be investigated.

Speaking on Thursday, April 27 during Citizen TV’s Daily Break show Khalwale stated the government should investigate churches before things get out of hand.

“I want to question people like Owuor. I have seen that bishop given security akin to the Head of State. Those are the conversation we are supposed to commit ourselves to if we are going to unlock this thing. You cannot wait until things get out of hand before you start talking about it. Now that I have mentioned Owuor I am going to be bashed the whole day,” said Khalwale.

His remarks come amid requests by a section of politicians and religious leaders for the government to regulate churches after controversial pastor Pail Mackenzie’s Shakahola cult that has left over ninety people dead.

Popular pastor Ezekile Oder of the New Life Prayer Center has also been arrested over allegations of indoctrination of his faithful. He was arrested in Kilifi County and is being grilled by DCI detectives.

"This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Odero at Makueni in Kilifi county on allegations of deaths that have been occurring at his premises. We have taken action to close down the prayer centre," Coast Regional Commissioner Rhodah Onyancha said.
