Pastor Ezekiel was arrested on Thursday morning in Kilifi County over mass killing of his followers. 

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has stated that Pastor Ezekiel Odero will face criminal charges over mass killing of his followers.

Kindiki in a statement via Twitter on Thursday, April 27 said that police officers are processing pastor Ezekiel to face the charges.

“It is notified for information of the general public that today Thursday, 27th April 2023, Mr Ezekiel Ombok Odero the Head of New Life Prayer Centre/Church at Mavueni within Malindi Sub-County of Kilifi County has been arrested and is being processed to face criminal charges related to mass killing of his followers,” he stated.

Kindiki also stated that Pastor Ezekiel’s church has been shut down and over a hundred people evacuated from the premises.

“The said Church has been shut down. The over 100 people who were holed up at the premises have been evacuated and will be required to record statements,” he added.

Pastor Ezekiel was arrested on Thursday morning in Kilifi County. His arrest comes a day after he was summoned by the DCI and questioned for hours over his church engaging in cultism and alleged deaths in his church.

He denied the indoctrination accusations presented against him during the grilling.
