Sakaja appointed the former CAS to her new role in the changes he made to City hospital boards.

Former Health Ministry Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi has been appointed the Chairperson of the Pumwani Hospital Board.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja made the appointment in the latest changes that affected various hospital boards in the City.

A Gazette notice officiating the appointment indicated that Mwangagi will serve as the Chair for a period of three years with effect from April 24, 2023.

Evalyne Ikwii Omasaja, Saidi Motokaa, Zahra Mohammed, Ustadh Hassan Ali Amin, and Ali Joram Juma Mkwambaa were appointed board members in the same gazette notice.

The changes in hospital boards seek to enhance service delivery even as Sakaja puts health at the heart of his core mandate.

Mwangangi studied at the University of Adelaide and the University of Nairobi.

In December she was appointed the Director of Health Systems Strengthening at Amref Health Africa, Kenya office.

The former Health CAS became a household name in Kenya during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Her charming smile and beauty made her a darling man as she announced Covid-19 figures to the nation.
