Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Friday, April 28 landed back in the country after a one-week trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The former Prime Minister arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly after 3 pm and was welcomed by Azimio leaders including; Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and National Assembly speaker Opiyo Wandayi. 

Others were; Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, former Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, and David Murathe.

In an update via Twitter after being received at JKIA, the opposition chief stated he is feeling amazing to be back in the country.

“Touchdown in Nairobi! It's an amazing feeling to be back home,” Raila stated.

The Azimio leader is expected to hold a mega rally at Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra Constituency where he will announce the way forward for the opposition coalition in relation to suspended bi-partisan talks and anti-government protests.

National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi on Wednesday asked Azimio elected leaders to go to JKIA to receive the ODM leader.

“As a party, we are gearing to accord him a grand welcome on arrival at the JKIA, then join him in a grand procession to the people’s Baraza at the Kamkunji Grounds, Kibra Constituency, on the same day. The Rt Hon Odinga will address the nation at the said meeting,” Wandayi stated.
