A group of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance MPs were on Tuesday teargassed while leading a procession to the office of the president.

The group was seeking to present a petition to the office of the president when police officers dispersed them.

The group was led by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna and Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo.

Several other opposition MPs were part of the group.

The march to the office of the President came on the very day ODM leader Raila Odinga urged his supporters to get back to the streets to protest against the Ruto regime.

The Azimio MPs had addressed a press conference saying they will not call off the protests.

The team led by MP Otiende Amollo said they did not have the capacity to call off the demos.

Otiende noted that some issues raised by the Kenya Kwanza coalition were unreasonable.

"As a joint bipartisan team, we have never been mandated to discuss anything about demonstrations. It is not in our place to call on or call off protests," he said.

"You cannot take our member and put him on the team then come back and tell us to remove ours for you to do the same. That is illogical."
