Azimio la Umoja coalition has given a demand to the Kenya Kwanza government before calling off demonstrations scheduled on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance has demanded the removal of Eldas MP Adan Keynan from the Kenya Kwanza bi-partisan committee before it calls off anti-government demonstrations scheduled on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 3, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said that Azimio is ready to go back to bi-partisan talks with the government if Keynan is removed from the committee.

“We, in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya announce, on a without prejudice basis, that we are prepared to go back to the Bipartisan talks with our opposite side in Kenya Kwanza and are prepared to stand down the demonstration scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, 4th May 2023, provided that Kenya Kwanza recuses Hon. Adan Kenan from the bipartisan Committee and immediately announces his replacement on the said Committee.

“This was the offer I made on Sunday at the Cathedral of Praise Ministries Int’l. All our other conditions remain the same,” Kalonzo stated.

The Raila-led coalition had suspended the talks on April 25 after a stalemate on the inclusion of Keynan and Pokot South MP David Pkosing in the bi-partisan committee.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo stated that the talks would only continue if the two MPs decide to withdraw from the team, Kenya Kwanza and Azimio remove the two, or if the appointing authorities choose to withdraw any of the two on their own accord.
