The Deputy President announced that the late Mukami will be buried on Saturday, May 13 in Nyandarua County.  

ODM leader Raila Odinga has warned Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against politicising the burial ceremony of the late Mukami Kimathi. 

Addressing the press on Sunday, May 7, the former prime minister said that nobody should try to score political points during the burial of Mukami. 

"I don't want anybody including the deputy president to try to politicize this issue or try to score political points over a very sad affair of the country," Odinga stated. 

Odinga also confirmed that he would attend the burial of the late Mukami at Njabini in Nyandarua County. 

“I cannot miss the funeral of Shujaa Mama Mukami wa Kimathi," he stated.

The Deputy President announced that the late Mukami will be buried on Saturday, May 13 in Nyandarua County. 

"In consultation with the family, we have agreed that the funeral service will be held on Saturday, 13th May 2023, at her home in Njabini, Nyandarua County, and H.E President Ruto will lead the government in giving the late hero a befitting send-off," said the deputy president.

At the same time, Mr. Gachagua has confirmed that President William Ruto will attend the funeral as he invited all other leaders in the country to attend the burial ceremony. 

"We want to invite all leaders, those who fought for freedom and those who collaborated with colonisers to frustrate the Mau Mau. We want to see them," Gachagua said.
