As a result, Kisumu residents stormed the Kisumu Central Police Station to condemn the shooting saying they won’t allow the police to use live bullets recklessly.

The residents destroyed windows but their attempt to torch a police car was thwarted after police officers lobbed teargas canisters to disperse the irate crowd.

Kisumu County police Commander Alphose Wambua stated that they are investigating the incident and would give more details later. He also said that they have released some PSV vehicles that were held at the station.
