Several people are feared dead after a truck rammed into vehicles and pedestrians in Migori town on Wednesday, May 10.

According to witnesses, the truck was being driven at a high speed and lost control before ramming into vehicles and pedestrians in the area.

Photos and videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke showed a rescue operation going on in the area to rescue the injured.

The accident comes weeks after another lorry ferrying rice from Nairobi to Sirare lost brakes and rammed into pedestrians and bodaboda operators in the same town and killed eleven people.

Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko in April promised to work with the government to ensure bumps are erected in the road to avoid accidents.

"We want an emergency measure taken to have bumps erected on those roads. If we had bumps, perhaps the truck that lost its brakes would have slowed down and not caused such an accident," Governor Ayacko said.

He also said that business people trading along the highway would be moved to alternative areas.
