Kiarie's father served as Kandara MP and unsuccessfully vied for Presidency in 1997, 2002, and 2007.

Dagoretti South Member of Parliament John Kiarie has lost his father David Waweru Ng’ethe.

Kiarie made the announcement on Wednesday, May 10 on his Twitter account saying his father succumbed to cancer.

“The Lion has rested. Dark, dark hour. As the 3 o’clock late afternoon sun battled with a stubborn dark cloud, for superiority in the skies, a stubborn dark cancer struck a final mortal blow. Death is so final, it is unbelievable. Grief pierces to the core. Acts 13:26,” he stated.

The late Nge’the served as the fourth MP for Kandara Constituency in Murang’a County between 1981 to 1983 after the court nullified the victory of George Mwicigi.

In the 1997 general election, Nge’the vied for the Presidency under the Chama Cha Umma Party but finished in the last place with 3,584 votes.

He also vied for the top seat in 2002 but still performed dismally after he tailed with 10, 061 votes out of 5.8 million votes cast.

Nge’the again vied in the controversial 2007 general elections and only managed to defeat Nixon Kukubo. He garnered 5,976 votes out of a total of 9.8 million votes.
