Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come to the aid of an eight-year-old student from Syipei in Narok County who was photographed wearing a leso while her teacher was sewing her torn school uniform.

Sonko on Wednesday, May 10 bought a new pair of uniform and shoes for the student and cleared her school fee arrears.

He also converted her from a day scholar to a boarding student so that she cannot struggle and promised to sponsor her education until she completes primary school.

The former county boss further sent Ksh 25,000 to the student for shopping and gave her pocket money.

Joyce Malit, the teacher who was pictured sewing the pupil’s uniform thanked Sonko for the kind gesture saying the 8-year-old will now be focused in school.

“We are happy with Sonko’s support and we are praying for him to get God’s blessings. We have already admitted the pupil to boarding school and she is now focused on her future,’’ she said.

Sonko had promised to buy the student five pairs of uniforms, academic materials, and clear outstanding school fees.

“Watu wangu, imagine sijalala poa coz of this pic which I saw of a young girl from siyiape primary school, Narok county with a torn dress circulating on social media.

“I need details of this school or her parents contacts I just want to buy her 5 sets of school uniforms, rubber shoes, official school shoes, her food and school shopping for at least 6 months and clear any of her outstanding school fees,” said Sonko.
