The First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Thursday, May 11 distributed food to over 3000 families in Marigat, drawn from all the sublocations in Baringo South Constituency.

The food distribution is part of the week-long "Faith in Action Week" initiative by the Faith Diplomacy Directorate, which will culminate in a regional interdenominational prayer meeting on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

The initiative has brought together leaders from six counties that border Kerio Valley; Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, and Laikipia Counties, to complement national and county government's efforts to restore normalcy in the region.

The First Lady emphasized the need for peace in the 6 targeted counties as a key ingredient for development. She further noted that women and children suffer the most during the insecurity incidents witnessed along the Kerio Valley.

Further, the six counties have witnessed the worst drought in the last 40 years where some areas missed rainfall for 4 seasons.

Other leaders present included Dr. Emmy Cheboi, the spouse of the Governor, Baringo County, Charles Kamuren, Member of Parliament Baringo South, Eng. Felix Maiyo, Deputy Governor Baringo County; and Vincent Kemboi, Speaker, Baringo County Assembly.
