I've seen a lot of noise that Kikuyus are more in this government, where do you want us to go? - DP Gachagua.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has defended the perceived over-recruitment of people from central Kenya into government.

Speaking in Nyandarua where he was among the leaders gracing the burial ceremony of Mama Mukami Kimathi, the deputy president said the recruitment are done on merit, ethnic extraction of the beneficiaries notwithstanding.

Rigathi said that it was inappropriate for some quarters to claim those from the Gema community are the ones benefitting yet they are the ones who voted the government.

"I've seen noise in the newspapers that Kikuyus are the majority in this government. Where do you want us to go to?" he posed.

He argued that members of his community came out in their numbers to vote for Ruto, and thus when he reciprocates the same, there should not be a fuss about it.

"We voted for him immensely. He has analysed and seen we are qualified for the positions. He analysed and found that the men and women from this region can assist him to govern," he said.

The deputy president further asserted that given the inmates at Kamiti Maximum Prison are mostly from the Gikuyu community, those in government being from the same community should not be an issue.
