This comes days after Lookiinto, a Lion believed to be the world's oldest was killed after preying on livestock in the outskirts of Amboseli National Park.

Six lions were killed on Saturday, May 13 by pastoralists at Imbirikani village, Oloitoktok, Kajiado County after they killed 11 goats and a dog.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in a statement after the incident stated that they held a meeting with the locals to address the conflict in the area that has resulted in the killing of ten lions from the Amboseli ecosystem in the past week.

“The KWS officials discoursed ways to address the current conflict, which resulted in the killing of six (6) lions earlier today. The lions had killed eleven (11) goats and one dog last night. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident as over the last week, four (4) other lions have been killed resulting to a total of ten (10) lions killed in the Amboseli ecosystem,” read the statement in part.

KWS Director General and Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Erustus Kanga emphasized the importance of balancing the needs of the local communities with the need to protect wildlife.

He urged the locals to report any incident of human-wildlife conflict to KWS and assured them that they would work together to find lasting solutions to the conflicts.
