Jubilee Party Vice-chair David Murathe has divulged that the party’s disciplinary committee will this week summon a section of its members who are perceived to be rebels.

Although Murathe did not mention names, it appears the party will be going for allies of Deputy President William Ruto who have been constantly criticizing the government and their party leader Uhuru Kenyatta.

The decision by a section of Ruto’s allies to warm up to the recently launched UDA party also appears to have irked the Jubilee Party leadership.

According to Murathe, some errant members will be slapped with show-cause letters while others may be expelled from the party.

“The disrespectful and disloyal members will receive show cause letters this week. Some cases will end up in expulsion. Their actions go contrary to Article 13 of the JP constitution… This will extend to members advancing ideologies of other political outfits not affiliated to JP. We will not hesitate to expel them from the party,” he told a local daily.

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura is believed to be among the leaders facing expulsion after he recently joined the Tanga tanga faction allied to Ruto.

Reacting to reports on the upcoming disciplinary exercise in the party, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei noted that Jubilee should prepare for a mass exodus very soon.

“JP is on its deathbed. The leadership has been unleashing the disciplinary card every time they want to intimidate and threaten us. It’s just a matter of time and they will witness a mass exodus of members.

 “We will wait for the show-cause letters and when we decide to leave, we will not just leave, we must make sure that just like other ruling parties, JP suffers the same fate. It will remain a shell,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party has over the past few months cracked the whip on perceived rebels taking them off powerful posts in Parliament and the Senate.

Some of the previous victims include; Adan Duale, Susan Kihika, Kipchumba Murkomen, Benjamin Washiali, and Kithure Kindiki among others .
