Echesa unsuccessfully vied for the Mumias West Parliamentary seat in the August 9, 2022 polls.

President William Ruto has appointed Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa as the Chairman of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order. 

In a gazette Notice dated May 18, 2023, Echesa will serve for a period of three years with effect from Friday, May 19, 2023.

Echesa unsuccessfully vied for the Mumias West Parliamentary seat in the August 9, 2022 polls on a UDA party ticket.

In 2017, he also vied for the seat unsuccessfully.

He has been an ardent supporter of President William Ruto and he is believed to have entered Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet through President Ruto. 

Ruto was then serving as Uhuru's deputy.

He was, however, sacked from his cabinet post under unclear circumstances.

Echesa would later allege that he was shown the door over his allegiance to President Ruto.
