Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Nominee Mithika Linturi on Friday appeared before a Parliamentary committee on appointment for vetting where he was being interrogated on his suitability for the office of a Cabinet Secretary.

The session however briefly turned into a light moment after Suna East MP Junet Mohamed interjected to ask the CS nominee to breathe normally.

"I a situated next to the CS nominee. I am requesting, so that we don't go into a serious health crisis, you tell him to breathe normally. He looks nervous," he said as he demonstrated how he was breathing.

The interjection sparked a brief moment of laughter as the group of MPs and Parliamentary staff broke into a pearl of laughter.

The Speaker Moses Wetangula who is also the chair of the committee also joined the team in laughing even as he asked Linturi whether he was nervous.

Linturi however denied being nervous saying:

"I am not nervous Mr Speaker. Why would I be nervous. These are my colleagues. We have been around together for a long time."

Linturi was the first CS nominee to be vetted on Friday.

Facing the 15-man committee on Friday from 9 am will be Mithuka Linturi (Agriculture and Livestock), Eliud Owalo (ICT and Digital Economy), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Ababu Namwamba (Youth Affairs and the Arts) and Rebecca Miano (EAC Arid and Semi-arid Lands Development).

As of Wednesday, 15 CS nominees had been vetted.

Among those vetted is Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi.

He is so far the wealthiest CS nominee with a net worth of about Sh4 billion. By Wednesday, 15 CS nominees had been vetted at the County Hall.
