President Ruto on Friday, May 19 stated that he will take full responsibility for the accountability of resources of the people of Kenya.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has advised President William Ruto to be careful in the KEMSA scandal, which is his first test in the fight against corruption. 

The senior counsel in a tweet on Sunday, May 21, urged President Ruto not to cover up the scandal or sacrifice a few government officials. 

Ahmednasir also asked the Head of State to follow due process and allow the police to do their work.

“Mr. President Williams Ruto, this is your first test in the fight against corruption: 1. No cover-up. 2. No sacred cows. 3. Allow the police to do their work. 4. Follow due process. 5. We are all equal before the law,” he stated.

President Ruto on Monday, May 15 disbanded the entire KEMSA board and terminated the appointment of Dr. Josephine Mburu as the Principal Secretary of State Department for Public Health & Professional Standards following a tendering scandal for mosquito nets from Global Fund.

He appointed Irungu Nyakera as the chairperson of the KEMSA board while Health CS Susan Nakhumicha named Hezbon Oyieko Omollo, Bernard Kipkirui Bett, Dr. Jane Masiga, and Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia were named as new KEMSA board members. 

On Friday, May 19 President Ruto stated that he will take full responsibility for the accountability of resources of the people of Kenya.

The Head of State vowed to use his powers to deal with anyone who will try to steal public money. 

“I won’t be talking a lot but I will take personal responsibility for the accountability of resources of the people of Kenya. Nobody will steal the money Kenyans have paid as taxes, and if anyone tries they will meet me because I don’t have any other job.

"I will use the sword I was given when I came to power to deal with the people who want to steal money from Kenyans,” said Ruto.
