“Anne Nderitu no longer enjoys the confidence of her clients who are political parties and whom by her mandate she is supposed to strengthen.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance has demanded the resignation of the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu.

In a statement read by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa on Wednesday, May 23, Azimio accused Nderitu of coopting with the Kenya Kwanza government to weaken political parties.

“The Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu must leave office in view of clear manifestations that she has been coopted into partisan and illegal schemes by Kenya Kwanza to cripple instead of protecting political parties,” Wamalwa stated.

He also stated that the Registrar no longer has the confidence of political parties, which are her clients.

“Anne Nderitu no longer enjoys the confidence of her clients who are political parties and whom by her mandate she is supposed to strengthen not to weaken as she is doing,” he added.

This comes days after Nderitu approved the ouster of Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe from the Jubilee Party.

Nderitu in a letter addressed to Joshua Kuttuny dated May 19, stated that the move to expel Kioni, Murathe, and suspend Kagwe Gichohi was done in accordance with the Jubilee Party constitution.

“Following a review of the submitted documents in line with the PPA and the party constitution, this Office is satisfied that the party adhered to the due process,” she stated.

The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal Court (PPDT) however issued conservatory orders stopping Nderitu from removing Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe from the Jubilee Party.
